Davido, Bright Chimezie, Others Headline Launch of Don FM and Ikoro FM in Abia

Umuahia, Abia State, is about to experience a major boost in media, culture, and entertainment with the launch of Don FM 103.7 and Ikoro FM 93.3. The official launch is scheduled for Friday, June 27, 2025, and promises a mix of star-studded performances and cultural heritage displays.

Media entrepreneur and philanthropist, Lucky Igbokwe, popularly known as Don Lulu, is the visionary behind this initiative. According to a statement released ahead of the event, the opening will begin with a traditional and cultural ceremony at Umuawa Alaocha Town Square by 10 am, featuring live broadcasts, traditional dances, and folk showcases.

Big Names in Entertainment Set to Perform

Later that day, the celebration moves to the Umuahia Township Stadium for a music and comedy festival. Top Nigerian entertainers such as Davido, Timaya, Kcee, Peruzzi, Bright Chimezie, Zlatan, Zoro, and Jeriq will grace the stage. Also present will be Cubana Chief Priest, Sabinus, and Funnybone. Their attendance highlights the national importance of the event and Don Lulu’s influence on both entertainment and philanthropy.

A Blend of Modern and Traditional Broadcasting

Don FM will cater to youthful and tech-savvy listeners, offering contemporary music and digital-friendly programs. In contrast, Ikoro FM is rooted in Igbo culture, focusing on indigenous storytelling, traditional music, and promoting local heritage. The goal is to preserve culture while remaining relevant in today’s media landscape.

“This is not just about launching radio stations. It is about creating a cultural blueprint, empowering our youth, and ensuring that the soul of our people echoes far beyond Abia’s borders.” — Don Lulu

Don Lulu’s Philanthropic Footprint

The launch also coincides with Don Lulu’s birthday, which he traditionally uses for giving back. Through the Don Lulu Foundation, he has sponsored scholarships, built homes, constructed classrooms, and provided interest-free loans to small businesses. He also donated a 300 KVA transformer to improve rural electricity access.

This launch is more than entertainment—it’s a call to embrace identity, preserve culture, and support community development. Don FM and Ikoro FM aim to serve as platforms for empowerment, education, and heritage promotion across the Southeast and beyond.
