Shaffy Bello Speaks on Love, Maturity, and the Kind of Marriage She Wants
Veteran Nollywood actress Shaffy Bello
Veteran Nollywood actress Shaffy Bello has shared a heartfelt reflection on her evolving views about love and relationships. Speaking during a recent episode of the Dear Ife series hosted by Ifedayo Agoro, the elegant screen star revealed that she is no longer interested in dating younger men and now desires a more meaningful connection—one that could lead to marriage.
According to the 50-something-year-old actress, her priorities have changed over time. While she once found joy in dating younger men, she says that phase of her life is now behind her.
“I have done it before. I think what I want now is different. When I did it, I was having fun. It was for a season; the season is over. I know for sure what I want now is marriage,” Bello said.
No Longer Moved by Flattery
Shaffy acknowledged that younger men still frequently reach out to her, especially through social media. She described it as flattering but no longer something that held her attention.
“Well, look, I claim it, I own it, it happens. I am over 50 and young men are sliding into your DM. That is flattering, but the thing is, some of them are badly behaved. Some will come with ‘Hi, dear’—and that’s it,” she shared.

Her View on Marriage: Flexibility Over Pressure
Though open to the idea of marriage, Bello made it clear that her view is more flexible than traditional societal expectations. She believes many people are too rigid about the idea of marriage and suggests that openness and individual definition are key.
“I don’t mind marriage… but I have a different opinion when it comes to it. I think a lot of people are very rigid when it comes to marriage,” she added.
Shaffy Bello’s candid revelations are a reminder that love, like life, evolves with time. Her message encourages women—especially those above 40—to know what they want, embrace their journey, and define love and commitment on their own terms. Her story also highlights the importance of emotional maturity and being intentional in relationships.
