Ecobank and Yabatech Launch Lagos Pop-Up Museum to Empower Nigerian Youth, Promote Art and Innovation
In a bid to strengthen Nigeria’s creative economy and foster community engagement, Ecobank Nigeria has teamed up with the Yaba Art Museum of Yaba College of Technology (Yabatech) to launch the Lagos Pop-Up Museum. The cultural exhibition will run from November 8, 2025, to February 10, 2026, at the Ecobank Pan African Centre (EPAC) in Victoria Island, Lagos.
This three-month-long event aims to bridge the gap between art, education, innovation, and finance. It will feature interactive exhibitions, workshops, performances, innovation labs, and community programmes designed to engage students, artists, and the public.
Culture as a Catalyst for Growth According to Bolaji Lawal, Managing Director of Ecobank Nigeria, the project reflects the bank’s deep commitment to Africa’s creative and social development.
“Through platforms like EPAC, we nurture collaboration, entrepreneurship, and cultural exchange. This partnership with Yabatech reinforces our values around education, innovation, sustainability, and African identity,” – Bolaji Lawal, Managing Director of Ecobank Nigeria.
Lawal added that the initiative is designed to make art more accessible while promoting creativity, youth empowerment, and innovation — essential ingredients for Nigeria’s social and economic growth.
Connecting Creativity with the Community
Yabatech’s Rector, Dr. Ibraheem Abdul, described the project as an expansion of the institution’s “Gown to Town” initiative, which connects academic creativity to the public. He explained that the Pop-Up Museum will involve students, entrepreneurs, creatives, policymakers, and everyday Lagosians, encouraging everyone to participate in discussions, workshops, and exhibitions that celebrate Nigeria’s cultural identity.
This inclusive approach opens doors for Nigerians — from youths seeking skill development to entrepreneurs exploring cultural business ideas, and even schools and NGOs eager to integrate art into education and social change.
How Nigerians Can Benefit and Participate
- Students and Creatives: Join workshops to develop skills in art, design, and innovation.
- Entrepreneurs: Explore partnerships and business ideas within the creative industry.
- NGOs and Educators: Use the platform for social impact programs and community learning.
- The Public: Visit the exhibition to experience art, learn, and connect with culture.
The Lagos Pop-Up Museum isn’t just an art show — it’s a movement for cultural empowerment and social transformation. By merging creativity with education and innovation, Ecobank and Yabatech are helping Nigerians imagine new possibilities for growth and unity through art.
