Nigerian celebrity chef, Hilda Baci, has once again made history by receiving her second Guinness World Record plaque, this time for cooking the world’s largest pot of jollof rice.
According to Guinness World Records, Hilda prepared a massive 8,780kg (19,356 pounds) of jollof rice during a Lagos cookout in September, officially setting a new global record. This comes just a year after her first Guinness World Record for completing a 93-hour, 11-minute cooking marathon in May 2023.
A Double Honour for Nigeria
With this latest recognition, Hilda becomes Nigeria’s first chef to hold two Guinness World Records, showcasing the country’s creativity, determination, and culinary excellence. Her efforts have put Nigeria’s food culture on the global stage, inspiring many young Africans to pursue their passions fearlessly.
In her Instagram post, Hilda shared photos of her plaques and described her journey as a story of “faith, fire, and history.” She wrote:
“Our plaques are finally here! Two records. Two plaques. One story of faith, fire, and history. Twice, God showed up for me. Twice, we made history for Nigeria.”
She also expressed gratitude to her team and partners, including Gino, noting that their collaboration created a story that reached over five billion people worldwide — a testament to how powerful purpose-driven work can be.
“When passion meets purpose, miracles happen. What started as a pot of jollof rice became a symbol of faith, hard work, and the power of believing in your dreams.” — Hilda Baci
A Lesson in Faith and Determination
Quoting Isaiah 61:7, Hilda reminded her followers that perseverance and faith bring rewards:

Her success story is more than a record — it’s a lesson in consistency, teamwork, and belief. Despite challenges, she turned her dream into a global inspiration, reminding Nigerians that every effort, no matter how small, can lead to something monumental.
