JBC Empowers Ibadan Youths with Digital Skills for Global Tech Careers
The Jericho Businessmen Club (JBC) has launched the Future-Ready Youth Digital Bootcamp — an initiative designed to equip young people in Ibadan, Oyo State, with essential digital skills to thrive in the global tech economy.
The three-day intensive bootcamp, which began on November 12 at the Ibadan Business Hub, introduces 52 selected participants to key areas such as Digital Skills and Career Pathways in Technology. Following this phase, the top 15 trainees will advance to a 10-week certified training in Data Analytics and Cybersecurity, supported by GOMYCODE, a leading technology education company.
Empowering Youths Through Technology
According to JBC President, Adegboyega Adegoke, the programme demonstrates the club’s commitment to empowering youths with skills that guarantee employability and economic independence.
“The world is moving into an age dominated by Artificial Intelligence and data. This is the era of disruptive technology — take advantage of this initiative; your career is in your hands,” he advised participants.
He emphasised that technology is a tool for economic self-sufficiency, encouraging beneficiaries to become innovators and job creators in Oyo State.
A Pathway to Employment and Growth
The Chairman of the Innovation Sub-Committee for the JBC 2025 Socio-Economic Summit, Kunle Opawale, explained that the bootcamp aligns with the summit’s theme: “Future-Ready Oyo State: Tech Talent and Transformation.” He noted that JBC aims not only to train but also to facilitate job placements and mentorship opportunities for participants. “Our success will be seeing them employed, thriving in tech, and returning to mentor others,” he added.
Programme Manager Emmanuel Adesanya highlighted that the bootcamp prepares youths for the future of work by focusing on digital literacy, data analytics, and cybersecurity, with practical certifications recognized by global tech companies such as Microsoft.
“The future belongs to those who can adapt, learn, and innovate. With the right digital skills, every young person in Ibadan can compete globally and create opportunities locally.” — Adegboyega Adegoke, President, Jericho Businessmen Club (JBC)
