LASG Cracks Down on Fake Parking Operators in Computer Village
The Lagos State Government has issued a warning to motorists and residents in the Computer Village area of Ikeja about fraudsters posing as parking operators to extort unsuspecting drivers.
Illegal Parking Activities on the Rise
The Lagos State Parking Authority has revealed that some individuals and syndicates are illegally collecting parking fees from drivers. According to the General Manager, Adebisi Adelabu, these fraudsters, often working with touts, charge unsuspecting motorists ₦1,000 to park their vehicles in areas under the Ikeja under-bridge and Computer Village.
Some illegal operatives have even clamped vehicles, removed license plates, or arranged for towing, forcing owners to pay hefty fines to recover their vehicles.
“We are aware of these fraudulent activities, and we want to make it clear that LASPA is the only government body legally mandated to oversee parking in Lagos State.”- Adelabu
The statement also condemned these activities as a disservice to the public and an embarrassment to the government’s efforts to maintain orderly parking systems.
How to Stay Safe
Motorists are advised to:
Use LASPA-registered parking operators only
Always ask for valid identification and receipts
Report suspicious operators to the authorities
LASPA has stepped up monitoring and enforcement in Computer Village and other high-risk areas to protect the public.
Drivers in Lagos State, especially in busy hubs like Computer Village, must stay vigilant and support legitimate parking services. Patronizing legal operators helps maintain order, safety, and accountability across the city.
