In a bold step to tackle youth unemployment and promote inclusivity, Diageo Nigeria has partnered with the Lagos State Government to train 250 young people in hospitality and tourism through the Diageo Learning for Life (L4L) initiative. This programme is designed to provide practical skills, hands-on training, and access to real job opportunities — especially for women and persons with disabilities.

This first rollout in Nigeria is in partnership with Celebr-8 Lyfe, Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF), and other stakeholders. It is open to unemployed and under-represented youths living in Lagos State.

How Nigerians Can Benefit

1. Free Hospitality Training:

Participants will receive free, hands-on training in hospitality and tourism, led by experienced trainers with certified instructional materials.

2. Internship & Job Placement:

After completing the programme, trainees will be placed on internships and may be considered for long-term employment within the industry.

3. Support for Women and PWDs:

The programme targets at least 60% female participation and 10% persons living with disabilities, promoting diversity and inclusion in the workforce.

4. Additional Government Support:

The Lagos State Government has committed to sponsoring another 250 youths, including paying their salaries for six months to help them settle into their roles after training.

5. Easy Access & Expansion Plans:

Youth organizations, NGOs, and the Lagos State Youth Council will help mobilize more beneficiaries, potentially scaling up to reach 5,000 youths.

“We are creating a ripple effect of transformation…”

“We believe that economic empowerment begins with opportunity. Through Diageo Learning for Life, we are not only helping to shape future hospitality professionals, but we are also creating a ripple effect of transformation that impacts families, communities, and the broader Nigerian economy,”

– Mr. Adebayo Alli, General Manager, Diageo Nigeria.

This initiative is more than a training programme — it’s a gateway to a better future for Nigerian youths. With strong support from both Diageo and the Lagos State Government, this is a golden opportunity for unemployed and under-represented young people to acquire skills, gain employment, and build sustainable careers in one of Nigeria’s fastest-growing sectors.
