Globacom Celebrated for Promoting Culture and Empowering Locals at Ojude Oba Festival.

Telecommunications giant Globacom has once again been honored for its long-standing sponsorship of the Ojude Oba Festival, an annual cultural celebration held in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State. Known for its colorful displays and deep-rooted traditions, the festival attracts thousands of people from across Nigeria and abroad. For over a decade, Glo has been the major sponsor, and its efforts continue to uplift both tradition and people.

This year, Globacom went beyond cultural celebration to reward outstanding community members with life-changing gifts—including two brand-new cars and four tricycles.

Community Recognition Through Glo’s Empowerment

Opeoluwa Osisanwo, Secretary of the Ojude Oba Festival Planning Committee and one of the 2025 car winners, thanked Globacom during a visit to the company’s Ijebu Ode office.

“This recognition is not just for me, but for the entire Ijebu community. May Globacom continue to excel, and may God grant the Chairman good health and strength to enjoy the fruit of his labour,”

Idowu Olabisi, a trader from Ijebu Igbo, also received a car, expressing her surprise and joy over the unexpected gift during Eid celebrations.

In addition to the cars, four community members received tricycles:

Mrs Adenike Olanrewaju (Plank seller, Molipa)

    Hassan Toheeb (Businessman, Ijebu Itele)

    Gazal Temitope (Trader, Onisa)

    Lawal Tosin (Carpenter, Idowa)

How Others Can Benefit from Cultural Participation

Engage Actively in Community Events: Be part of planning committees or volunteer roles—recognition often follows service.

Promote Local Culture: Use social media or business platforms to showcase your town’s traditions; this attracts sponsors.

Leverage CSR Opportunities: Companies like Globacom reward excellence, dedication, and service—stay informed and participate.

Collaborate with Cultural Foundations: NGOs and brands often collaborate during festivals—your craft or trade might benefit from exposure.

Globacom’s consistent investment in the Ojude Oba Festival proves that supporting culture goes together with community empowerment. By recognizing grassroots contributors and elevating everyday people through awards and gifts, Glo is not just preserving tradition—it’s building futures. Communities across Nigeria can take a cue: culture, when celebrated, can be a powerful tool for change.
