INEC Warns Nigerians Against Fake Recruitment Advert

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has raised alarm over a fake recruitment advert currently circulating on social media platforms. The electoral body, in a statement released on Wednesday via its official X (formerly Twitter) account, urged Nigerians to ignore the fraudulent notice.

The scam advert falsely claims that INEC is recruiting for several positions and directs unsuspecting applicants to a fake website—inecrecruitment.com.com—to submit their personal details.

INEC’s Clarification

INEC dismissed the advert as fake and stressed that it is not carrying out any recruitment exercise now. The commission further explained that the so-called recruitment portal being promoted is also fraudulent.

“Our attention has been drawn to a fake advertorial currently circulating on social media, giving the impression that the Independent National Electoral Commission is recruiting for various positions. The impostor behind this illicit recruitment exercise also asked would-be respondents to log on to an equally fake portal – inecrecruitment.com to complete their applications. But INEC does not have any such portal,” the statement read.

“The commission is not recruiting. Nigerians should be wary of fraudsters and avoid falling victim to fake job adverts circulating online.” – INEC

Warning to the Public

The commission cautioned Nigerians not to fall victim to the tricks of fraudsters who exploit job seekers. It emphasized that official recruitment information is only published on its verified communication channels.

INEC has made it clear that it is not recruiting now and advised Nigerians to remain vigilant against fraudulent schemes. Job seekers are urged to verify all information from official INEC platforms before taking any action.
