JAMB Promises Action as Students Report Irregularities in 2025 UTME Results

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially responded to increasing complaints from candidates regarding the recently released results of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). The complaints, which JAMB described as “unusual,” have mostly originated from a few specific states across the country.

According to JAMB, although the complaints do not represent the experience of the majority, they are being taken seriously and will be investigated thoroughly.

Fast-Tracking Review to Address Issues

In response to the situation, JAMB has announced that it is fast-tracking its annual system review. This review typically takes place months after the examination but has now been moved up to promptly address the current concerns.

The review process will examine three major areas:

    Registration Process

    Conduct of the Examination

    Result Processing and Release

JAMB reassured the public that in cases where technical problems prevented candidates from writing their exams properly, those candidates are usually rescheduled without delay.

Experts Called in to Ensure Transparency

To ensure a fair and thorough investigation, JAMB has brought in independent experts and stakeholders, including:

The Computer Professionals Association of Nigeria

    Vice Chancellors from Nigerian Universities

Chief External Examiners (Heads of Tertiary Institutions)

Educational Assessment and Research Network in Africa (EARN-Africa)

    Measurement and Evaluation Experts

These professionals would help verify if any technical glitches occurred during the conduct or release of the UTME results.

“If it is determined that there were indeed glitches, we will implement appropriate remedial measures promptly,”

    — Dr. Fabian Benjamin, JAMB Spokesperson

JAMB has assured the public that it is committed to transparency and fairness, and affected candidates will not be left behind if any errors are found. Candidates and parents are advised to remain calm, follow updates on the JAMB portal, and avoid spreading false information on social media.

For those with valid complaints, it is encouraged to report through JAMB’s official channels for prompt attention.
