Nigerian dance icon and entrepreneur, Kafayat Shafau, popularly known as Kaffy, is marking her 25th anniversary in the creative space by launching a groundbreaking initiative—Kaffy Incorporated. The newly formed company is set to bridge long-standing gaps in Nigeria’s creative and wellness sectors.
New Agency with a Purpose
At a press conference in Lagos, Kaffy unveiled two major arms of her new business: Kaffy Kreative Agency and her personal brand, I Am Kaffy. According to her, the goal is to provide structure and sustainability for talents in an industry that often overlooks their long-term growth and financial wellbeing.
“I’ve built this for 25 years from personal funding. Imagine what we could do with real backing. This is an investable vision,” she said.
What Kaffy Kreative Agency Offers
The new agency is designed to serve as a one-stop platform for a range of services including:
Choreography and performance
Talent management
Project execution
Corporate engagements
It will also train and employ young talents, offering competitive wages that reflect the value of their work.
Kaffy emphasized the importance of industry standards by citing her own journey.
“Let’s say 15 years ago, I collected N500,000 for choreography. I don’t collect 500,000 anymore. But for a young person starting now, N500,000 is good pay to start with. But if I didn’t collect N500,000, it would be difficult for someone to charge that,” she explained.
