May Day Message: Tinubu Promises Better Welfare for Nigerian Workers

President Bola Tinubu

As Nigerians joined the rest of the world to mark Workers’ Day on May 1st, President Bola Tinubu praised the Nigerian workforce, calling them the backbone of the country’s economy. In a heartfelt message shared on his official X handle, the President acknowledged the contributions of workers across all sectors — from entrepreneurs to civil servants — describing them as essential to national progress.

Workers Are the Engine of the Economy

President Tinubu emphasized that Nigerian workers remain the “engine of our economy and the secret to our nation’s growth.” He noted that without the daily sacrifices and efforts of hardworking citizens, the dream of a stronger, better Nigeria would not be possible.

He directed his message to everyone — whether young or old, self-employed or government-employed — who plays a role in building homes, communities, and the nation. “Your dedication is what keeps Nigeria moving forward,” he stated.

“The strength of any nation lies in the hands of its workers — when we value their welfare, we invest in our country’s future.”

Pledge to Prioritize Workers’ Welfare

Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to better living conditions for Nigerian workers, Tinubu said that workers’ welfare will remain a top priority. He stated that the government has already begun making efforts to improve workers’ lives and will continue to take steps in that direction.

This reassurance is coming at a time when many Nigerians are grappling with the rising cost of living and calls for fair wages and improved working conditions have grown louder. The President’s promise gives hope that ongoing reforms will soon translate into meaningful change for ordinary workers.

President Tinubu ended his message with a call for unity and collective effort, declaring, “Together, we will make Nigeria great again.” His words serve not only as a celebration of workers but also as a reminder that the nation’s future depends on collaboration between the government and its citizens.

As Nigeria continues its journey toward economic recovery and development, workers remain at the heart of that progress. Their welfare, productivity, and resilience will determine how far the nation goes.
