NYSC Announces Date for 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream I Orientation Course
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced that the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream I Orientation Course will begin nationwide on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, across all 37 NYSC Orientation Camps in Nigeria.
According to a statement shared on NYSC’s official X handle, camp registration will run from Wednesday, January 21, to midnight on Friday, January 23, 2026. The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for Friday, January 23, while the closing ceremony will take place on Tuesday, February 10, 2026.
Important Advice for Prospective Corps Members
The Director-General of NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, urged all prospective corps members to travel safely to their states of deployment and avoid night journeys. He also advised them to strictly follow the orientation timetable to ensure a smooth and successful camp experience.

What Happens During Orientation Camp?
The NYSC orientation camp lasts three weeks and serves as the foundation of the one-year national service. During this period, corps members participate in:
- Paramilitary drills and physical training
- Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programmes
- Lectures on national unity and civic responsibility
- Cultural, social, and sporting activities
These activities are designed to promote national unity, discipline, leadership skills, and inter-ethnic understanding.
How to Be Part of the NYSC Programme
To participate in the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream I:
- Ensure you are a Nigerian graduate (university or polytechnic) eligible for service.
- Register online via the NYSC official portal when registration opens.
- Print your call-up letter, which will show your state of deployment.
- Report to your assigned orientation camp on the stated date with required documents, including your call-up letter, school ID, and medical fitness certificate.
