Órüpézá Festival 2025: A Celebration of Culture, Creativity, and Youth

Lagos is preparing for another unforgettable experience as the Órüpézá Festival 2025 takes over Freedom Park, Lagos Island, from September 28 to October 2. The five-day event, which aligns with Nigeria’s Independence Day on October 1, promises an exciting mix of music, film, fashion, dance, gaming, visual arts, and food, blending tradition with modern creativity. 

Last year’s edition drew massive attention, sparking conversations on identity, legacy, and community while also entertaining the crowd with afrobeat anthems, soulful ballads, spoken word, and comedy. 

Honouring Legends, Inspiring Generations 

In 2024, the festival introduced the Órüpézá Cultural Honours, celebrating icons like journalist Jahman Anikulapo, sculptor Bruce Onobrakpeya, and actress Taiwo Ajayi-Lycett. Their recognition highlighted the festival’s mission to bridge generations and celebrate culture as the foundation of community.
