In a historic move, Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has sponsored 200 students to study in India under the newly launched Mutfwang Legacy Scholarship Scheme — one of the largest foreign education interventions in the state’s history.
The beneficiaries will pursue degree programmes in Medical Sciences, Engineering, and Information and Communication Technology at Sanskaram University, India. A formal send-off ceremony was held in Jos, celebrating the students’ achievements.
Merit-Based Selection: A Transparent Process
Governor Mutfwang emphasized that the selection was strictly merit-based, free from political or institutional influence.
“This process was not manipulated or influenced in any way. Everyone selected is here because of hard work and excellence,” he said, noting that Sanskaram University independently supervised the screening exercise.
The first batch of scholars was chosen without quotas or allocations to politicians, local governments, or institutions. Governor Mutfwang highlighted that Plateau has some of the brightest minds in Nigeria, and this initiative ensures that excellence and hard work are rewarded.
