Nollywood actress and producer, Ruth Kadiri, has cleared the air on her decision to keep her marriage out of the spotlight. In a recent interview on Dear Ife, she explained that her husband is not a secret, but they both value a private lifestyle free from public scrutiny.
The Edo-born actress, who got married in a quiet ceremony in 2019 with only 50 invited guests, said the decision was a mutual one between her and her husband. “It was exactly what we both wanted, and I didn’t want any drama around my relationship,” she shared.
Privacy as a Protective Measure
Ruth believes that keeping her marriage private has helped her stay grounded and protected from external influences. She added that this decision was one of the best she has ever made.
“I think that’s the best decision I’ve ever made because it has helped me stay grounded and define my relationship.”
Kadiri emphasized that her husband is not a celebrity and prefers life away from the limelight. This has helped him avoid the pressures that usually come with being married to a public figure. According to her, they attend events and church services together, but people often don’t recognize him because he’s not active in the public eye.
“Privacy is not secrecy — it’s protection. Keeping my marriage low-key has been the best decision for my peace and for the strength of my family.” — Ruth Kadiri
Clearing Misconceptions
Ruth responded to rumors claiming she is hiding her husband, saying, “For clarity, my husband is not a secret. People who know me know him, and that’s enough. I’m not hiding from him. My life is not as private as people think.”
She also noted that while her family life isn’t on display, it doesn’t mean it’s hidden. She and her husband have two daughters together, and their life together is very real—just not for public consumption.
Ruth Kadiri’s story is a reminder that not everything valuable needs to be shared online. Her experience shows that protecting one’s relationship from public opinion can lead to peace and stability, especially in a world full of social media pressure.
