UBA Foundation Reaches Over 100,000 Nigerians and Africans with Food, Education and Hope
The UBA Foundation, the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm of United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc, has supported over 100,000 vulnerable individuals across Nigeria and 19 African countries through its Food Bank and Giving Back initiative.
Between November 2025 and January 2026, the Foundation distributed food items, school materials, and cash gifts worth millions of naira and dollars to schoolchildren, orphanages, internally displaced persons (IDP) camps, and low-income communities. The initiative was designed to reduce financial pressure during the festive season and the start of a new year, a period many families find challenging.
Nationwide Impact in Nigeria
In Nigeria, the outreach covered all regions, reaching orphanage homes and IDP camps in states such as Abia, Ebonyi, Lagos, Oyo, Edo, Akwa Ibom, Kogi, Niger, Borno, Taraba, Kebbi, and Jigawa. Beneficiaries received non-perishable food items, learning materials, and other essential supplies to support both education and daily living.
Extending Help Beyond Nigeria
Across Africa, similar interventions were carried out in countries including Ghana, Kenya, Senegal, Uganda, Tanzania, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Zambia, and Côte d’Ivoire, among others. These efforts impacted hundreds of thousands of people, reinforcing UBA Foundation’s pan-African commitment to social development.
“At UBA Foundation, we believe that true development begins with compassion and action. Our goal is not just to give, but to restore hope and create opportunities for children and families to grow and thrive.”- Managing Director/CEO of UBA Foundation, Bola Atta.
She added that proper nutrition and access to learning tools are critical for children’s cognitive development and physical well-being.
How You Can Benefit or Be Part of It
Individuals, schools, orphanages, and community groups can benefit by staying informed through UBA Foundation’s official channels and partnering with local UBA branches. Volunteers, NGOs, and corporate partners can also collaborate by supporting outreach programmes, education projects, or community initiatives.
Through programmes like Food Bank, National Essay Competition, Read Africa, health outreaches, and sustainability projects, UBA Foundation continues to empower communities and reduce poverty across Africa. Its work shows that consistent giving can create lasting change.
