4,000 CNG Trucks to Replace Diesel Use Nationwide

Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Chairman of Dangote Group

In a major move toward affordable energy and environmental sustainability, Dangote Petroleum Refinery is investing ₦720 billion to deploy 4,000 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) trucks across Nigeria. This massive initiative aims to help reduce the country’s heavy dependence on diesel and petrol, especially for transporting goods and services.

CNG is a cleaner and cheaper alternative to diesel. It burns more efficiently, produces fewer emissions, and significantly lowers fuel costs.

Nigerians to Save Up to ₦1.7 Trillion Annually

The Dangote Group estimates that this shift could save Nigerians up to ₦1.7 trillion each year in fuel expenses. Transporters, logistics companies, manufacturers, farmers, and even food sellers who depend on road transport will benefit directly from the transportation industry.

Lower fuel costs will mean:

    Reduced cost of transporting goods

    More affordable food and products

Improved earnings for small business owners and drivers

Less money spent by families on commuting

Environmental and Economic Impact

This initiative will also have significant environmental benefits. By switching to CNG, Nigeria will see a drop in harmful emissions and air pollution. This contributes to the country’s climate goals and public health improvement.

“This investment is not just about trucks; it’s about giving Nigerians a break from high fuel costs and setting a new standard for cleaner, cost-effective transportation.”- Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Chairman of Dangote Group
