Benjamin Hundeyin
The Lagos State Police Command has dismantled a baby factory operating in the Ijegun area of Lagos. Acting on a tip-off received last Saturday, officers swiftly moved in and rescued 10 victims—seven adult women and three children. The main suspect, 35-year-old Mariam Vincent, was arrested alongside two accomplices, Orie Ruth (23) and Ujunwa Ifeanyi (18).
According to the police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, the victims were reportedly kidnapped from different parts of the state and held against their will. Those rescued include adults aged between 22 and 26, and children identified as Destiny (7), Miracle (5), and Success (2). They are all currently receiving medical attention and psychological support.
How Police Are Combating Crime in Lagos
Hundeyin revealed that the baby factory case is just one of several criminal activities the police are tackling. Within two weeks, officers arrested 39 individuals linked to various crimes, including murder, kidnapping, robbery, rape, and illegal arms possession. He stressed the importance of community support, stating that many breakthroughs come from timely tips from residents.
In another operation, police rescued two kidnapped persons in the Igbe Alagemo, Ijede area of Ikorodu. The incident happened on March 26, 2025, when armed men stormed the community at night, killing a guard dog and abducting two residents—Dare (40) and Rodiat (25). After three days of intensive search and collaboration with local vigilantes, both victims were safely rescued and reunited with their families.
“We urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities. Most of our breakthroughs come from timely tips. Together, we can build a safer Lagos for all.”
— Benjamin Hundeyin, Lagos State Police Spokesperson
Lessons for the Public
These events highlight the importance of community vigilance. Citizens must stay alert and report suspicious movements to authorities immediately. The recent success of the Lagos police shows that prompt action can save lives and bring criminals to justice.
Conclusion
Criminal activities like baby factories and kidnappings are serious threats, but they can be tackled with active community-police collaboration. The public must continue to support law enforcement by speaking up and providing useful information. Together, we can create safer environments for everyone—especially women and children who are often the most vulnerable.
