Chevening 2027: Nigerians Can Apply for a Fully Funded UK Master’s Scholarship

Applications Are Now Open

Nigerians seeking to pursue a master’s degree in the United Kingdom can now apply for the 2027–2028 Chevening Scholarship, one of the UK Government’s major international scholarship programmes. Applications opened on 4 August 2026 and close on 6 October 2026 at 11:00 UTC.

Chevening supports exceptional future leaders to study a one-year master’s degree at a UK university while developing professional networks and leadership skills.

Who Can Benefit?

Nigerian applicants must meet Chevening’s eligibility requirements. Among other conditions, applicants need an undergraduate degree that qualifies them for a UK master’s programme and at least two years of eligible work experience (2,800 hours) gained after completing their undergraduate degree.

There is no upper age limit, so professionals who have been working for several years can also apply.

How to Increase Your Chances

Start by researching three eligible UK master’s courses that directly connect to your career goals. Your application should demonstrate leadership, networking ability, clear career plans and measurable impact rather than simply explaining why you want to study abroad.

Most importantly, write your application yourself. Chevening states that using AI to generate application answers is prohibited. Applications are free, and applicants do not need to pay agents to submit them.

How to Apply

Nigerians should use the official Chevening Nigeria application page and carefully follow the application guidance before submitting.

Do not wait until the deadline. Research your courses, gather your experiences, identify strong leadership examples and begin preparing your application early.

For Nigerian professionals looking for international education, leadership development and global networking opportunities, Chevening could be a life-changing opportunity. Check your eligibility and begin your application before 6 October 2026.
