World-Class Music Training Comes to Lagos: Tiwa Savage & Berklee College Join Forces

A major new music education programme is set to transform Nigeria’s creative scene as Tiwa Savage Music Foundation partners with the prestigious Berklee College of Music to bring elite training to Lagos, Nigeria, from April 23 – 26, 2026. This initiative aims to unlock opportunities for aspiring musicians, producers, songwriters, engineers, and music professionals across Africa.

About the Programme

The four-day intensive — Berklee in Nigeria: Tiwa Savage Intensive Music Programme — will train 100 emerging creators in hands-on workshops covering:

  • Music performance and live artistry
  • Songwriting and composition
  • Music production and sound engineering
  • Business of music, including publishing, copyright, and industry insights

The training blends Berklee’s world-renowned curriculum with the rich cultural context of Nigerian music, preparing participants with practical skills and professional knowledge that can help turn their creative talents into career opportunities.

Why This Matters to Nigerian Creatives

According to Tiwa Savage, the programme is designed to close the gap between raw musical talent and structured industry understanding, especially for young Africans who often lack access to formal music education. Berklee’s arrival in West Africa for the first time marks a landmark moment for the region’s creative ecosystem.

“Talent is universal — but access is not,” Tiwa Savage said, highlighting the need for structured pathways that help musicians and music professionals grow and compete on a global scale.

Participants will conclude the programme with a live showcase, presenting original work that blends global music styles with West African influences. Outstanding talents may also be recommended for future Berklee scholarships, both on-campus in Boston or through online opportunities.

This partnership between Tiwa Savage Music Foundation and Berklee College of Music represents a major milestone for African music talent development.
