Najeem Salaam, the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress for the August 15 Osun State election, has condemned the brutal killing of a teacher abducted during a recent bandit attack on schools in Oyo State.
Salaam described the incident as painful, disturbing, and a clear indication that insecurity in Nigeria has reached an alarming level. He stressed that the protection of Nigerians should be treated as a top national priority above political activities and preparations for the 2027 general elections.
Teacher Killed After School Abduction in Oyo State
The victim, identified as Mr Michael Oyedokun, was among several teachers and students abducted during an attack carried out by suspected bandits in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The attack reportedly occurred on Friday when armed men stormed three schools within the community:
Community Grammar School
Baptist Nursery and Primary School
L.A. Primary School
During the attack, about 30 students, teachers, and school workers were kidnapped, while two persons lost their lives.
The incident has sparked widespread concern among Nigerians over the increasing insecurity affecting schools, teachers, students, and rural communities.
