Empowering the Girl Child: How Young Women Can Build a Stronger Future

Stakeholders at the graduation of the first cohort of the African Girl Guide 12-week Leadership and Empowerment Programme in Abuja have called for greater investment in girl-child education, leadership and skills development.
The programme graduated 37 young women, with 10 receiving outstanding awards. Speakers stressed that empowering girls could help reduce poverty, human trafficking, exploitation and corruption, while preparing young women for leadership and national development.
Uplift International Founder, Nelson Ogohi, emphasized the importance of purpose, influence and impact, encouraging young women to understand their purpose, use their influence positively and create measurable change.

6. Mentoring others: As you grow, help another girl gain confidence, knowledge and access to opportunities.

The African Girl Guide initiative demonstrates that empowerment is more than receiving certificates. It is about gaining confidence, discovering purposes, and using acquired knowledge to create positive change.
