In an inspiring move to empower women in technology, Afro-Tech Girls, a non-profit dedicated to promoting African women in STEM, has partnered with VampAI to launch a five-week Resume Challenge Programme. The initiative aims to help women effectively translate their technical skills into real career opportunities through professional guidance and portfolio development.
Over the past decade, Afro-Tech Girls has trained more than 5,000 young women across Africa in fields like UI/UX design, cloud computing, front-end development, and data science. However, many participants found it challenging to present their technical expertise in a way that attracts employers — a gap this new programme intends to fill.
The Resume Challenge: Building Confidence and Career Readiness
From a pool of over 1,000 beneficiaries, 34 women were selected for the first phase of the programme. Participants received hands-on training through portfolio reviews, resume development workshops, and interview coaching sessions led by top professionals such as Ope Odunlami and Prisca Anuolam.
By the end of the five-week challenge, 97% of participants reported feeling more confident in creating professional portfolios, while 72% said their overall career confidence had improved. This marks a strong step toward preparing women to compete in both local and global tech markets.
How to Take Part and Benefit
Aspiring participants can follow Afro-Tech Girls and VampAI on their social media platforms or subscribe to their newsletters to get updates on upcoming programmes. Interested women should:
- Register online through the official Afro-Tech Girls website when applications open.
- Submit a short statement detailing their skills, goals, and experience in tech.
- Engage actively in mentorship sessions, workshops, and practical tasks during the challenge.
Those selected gain access to career mentorship, industry connections, and job placement opportunities through VampAI’s verified global network.
“Technical skills open doors, but career readiness ensures you can walk through them with confidence,” Afro-Tech Girls stated.
The Afro-Tech Girls x VampAI Resume Challenge is not just about resumes — it’s about transforming potential into opportunity. By merging technical training with real-world career support, the programme is helping women across Africa thrive and take their rightful place in the global tech ecosystem.
