CAC to Register 3,500 Small Businesses for Free Across Nigeria – How You Can Benefit

The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has announced a new nationwide initiative to register 3,500 small businesses for free across Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

This move is aimed at helping small business owners reduce start-up costs and join the formal economy.

What the Free CAC Registration Means

The free business name registration is designed for micro and small business owners who are yet to register their businesses.

According to the CAC, the programme will help entrepreneurs operate legally and enjoy the full benefits of running a registered business in Nigeria.

“In the spirit of the celebration, the CAC has announced free business name registration for 3,500 small businesses across the 36 states and the FCT.” – CAC

The Registrar-General of CAC, Hussaini Magaji, explained that the goal is to make business formalisation easier and affordable for Nigerians.

Who Can Benefit from This Opportunity

This initiative is useful for:

  • Small shop owners
  • Online vendors and home businesses
  • Freelancers and service providers
  • Start-ups and youth-owned businesses
  • Women-led and informal businesses

If your business is still unregistered, this opportunity can help you start on the right legal path without paying the normal registration fees.

How to Be Part of the Free Registration

Interested business owners are advised to:

  1. Follow the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) on its official channels.
  1. Watch out for announcements on how beneficiaries will be selected in each state.
  1. Prepare your business details such as proposed business name, nature of business and personal identification.

The free slots will be shared across all states and the FCT, so early attention to CAC updates is important.

Why Registering Your Business Matters

Once your business is registered with CAC, you can:

  • Access government and private funding opportunities
  • Open a business bank account
  • Apply for grants and support programmes
  • Build trust with customers and partners

The CAC says the programme will help more Nigerians take part in the formal economy and grow their businesses.

New Digital Tools Coming to CAC

The CAC also announced a partnership with Google to improve its digital services. A new website will soon be launched, featuring:

  • An AI Lawyer to guide users on CAC rules and procedures
  • business name generator to help entrepreneurs choose and reserve suitable names

This free registration programme is a rare opportunity for Nigerian entrepreneurs to start right, save money and position their businesses for growth. Small business owners are encouraged to follow CAC closely and take advantage of this initiative.
