FG Begins Nationwide Screening for 2026 Skill-Up Artisans Programme: Step-by-Step Guide for Applicants

The Federal Government, through the Industrial Training Fund (ITF), has officially started the nationwide screening process for shortlisted applicants under the 2026 Skill-Up Artisans Programme (SUPA). The initiative is designed to equip Nigerian artisans with modern technical skills, international certifications, and business development support to improve their competitiveness in both local and global job markets.

What Is the Skill-Up Artisans Programme?

The Skill-Up Artisans Programme (SUPA) is one of the Federal Government’s flagship human capital development initiatives. It focuses on training, certifying, and licensing artisans in high-demand vocational trades such as welding, electrical installation, construction, plumbing, industrial maintenance, and more.

The programme also aims to reduce Nigeria’s dependence on foreign artisans by strengthening the skills of local professionals.

Step-by-Step Screening Process

Step 1: Confirm You Were Shortlisted

Only applicants who have been shortlisted by the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) are eligible to participate in the screening exercise.

Step 2: Know Your Screening Date

The screening will take place in two phases:

  • Northern States (North-Central, North-West & North-East): July 14–17, 2026
  • Southern States (South-East, South-West & South-South): July 21–24, 2026

Step 3: Visit Your Assigned Screening Centre

Screening will be held simultaneously across the three senatorial districts in every state and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)

Step 4: Bring Your Required Documents

Applicants should report with all requested credentials and identification documents. Only candidates who successfully complete the screening will move to the training stage.

Step 5: Complete Training and Certification

Successful participants will receive advanced technical training, internationally recognised certification, and later benefit from mentorship, enterprise development, and business incubation support to help them establish sustainable businesses.

“The goal is not just to train artisans but to produce globally competitive professionals and entrepreneurs who can create jobs and contribute to Nigeria’s industrial growth.” — Afiz Oluwatoyin Ogun, ITF Director-General.

The 2026 Skill-Up Artisans Programme offers Nigerian artisans an opportunity to gain world-class technical skills, internationally recognised certifications, and entrepreneurial support. Eligible applicants are encouraged to attend their screening on the scheduled dates and prepare all required documents to improve their chances of selection.
