How Ekiti’s N10bn Boosts Hospitals, Roads and Solar Water

The Ekiti State Government has approved more than N10 billion for major infrastructure projects.

The initiatives cover healthcare, water supply, roads, aviation, street lighting and other public facilities.

Additionally, Ekiti State projects, N10bn infrastructure, Ekiti hospitals, solar-powered water, youth opportunities, healthcare, roads, SURWASH reflect the government’s priorities.

The approvals were made at the State Executive Council meeting held on September 22, 2026. Moreover, the government says the projects are intended to improve essential services and infrastructure across the state.

N6.7bn Approved for Three General Hospitals 

One of the biggest allocations is N6.765 billion for new hospital buildings at the General Hospitals in Ikogosi-Ekiti, Awo-Ekiti and Ipao-Ekiti.

Each hospital project has an approved allocation of about N2.255 billion.

It will include maternity and delivery suites, male and female wards, children’s wards, laboratories, theatres, consulting rooms, staff accommodation.

This aligns with Ekiti State projects, N10bn infrastructure, Ekiti hospitals, solar-powered water, youth opportunities, healthcare, roads, SURWASH.

104 Boreholes to Become Solar-Powered Water Facilities

Another major intervention is the N1.681 billion rehabilitation and upgrading. Additionally, it covers 104 high-yielding boreholes across Ekiti’s LGAs and LCDAs.

Moreover, boreholes will be converted into reticulated solar-powered water facilities.

They will include pipelines, storage tanks, pumps, and distribution points to widen water access.

The projects are expected to be completed within four weeks, according to the state government’s announcement. This timing was disclosed by the government.

The programme is being implemented under the World Bank-supported Sustainable Urban and Rural Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene (SURWASH) programme, which focuses on improving access to water, sanitation and hygiene services.

N1.09bn for roads in Ado-Ekiti

The council also approved N1.093 billion for the construction of Olajiga Street, Egbewa, and the GRA 3rd Extension Road connecting Ifesowapo, Ibi Oluwatoba Avenue and Ori Apata. 

The work will include earthworks and drainage, pavement construction, and asphalt laying. Completion is scheduled within 12 months.

Another N155.35 million was approved for Phase II of the Afao-Ekiti streetlight project. Solar-powered streetlights were approved for Government House.

There was also an approval of about N448.07 million for office equipment for the Ministry of Special Duties and furniture replacement at the Presidential Lodge and its extension.
