Lagos Announces 96-Hour DJ Marathon Festival for Detty December 2025

Lagos State is preparing for one of its biggest entertainment events yet—a 96-hour DJ Marathon World Festival scheduled for December 29, 2025, to January 2, 2026. The festival, inspired by Lagos’ global popularity during Detty December, will feature at least 100 DJs performing non-stop for four days.

According to event coordinator and media personality, Buchi Henry, the idea grew from the increased international interest in Lagos’ holiday nightlife. Visitors from Switzerland, Denmark, Norway, France and Portugal reportedly sought firsthand experience of Lagos’ vibrant December celebrations.

Capturing the True Lagos Party Spirit

Henry explained that the team wanted an event that truly reflects the city’s energy, nightlife, music culture and international appeal. The organizers reviewed previous marathon party records—including feats by DJ Obi and DJ Bella—and decided to create a unique 96-hour nonstop festival that aligns with New Year celebrations.

“There’s no party like Lagos party, and DJs remain central to every event,” Henry said.

The festival will run across three beach venues—Wave Beach, Kyma Beach and Athena Beach—with a mix of free and ticketed events. Activities will go beyond music to include food, fashion, yoga, Zumba, gospel, R&B, hip-hop and fitness segments.

A Boost for Tourism, Entertainment and Local Businesses

The organisers believe the event will position Lagos as home to Africa’s largest party festival. The DJ marathon will be streamed to over 100 countries, showcasing Nigeria’s creative energy to the world. Veteran DJs such as DJ Jimmy Jatt, DJ Neptune, DJ Humility and DJ Bombastic will perform alongside over 50 upcoming and female DJs, promoting talent exposure and gender inclusion.

How Nigerians Can Benefit

This festival creates opportunities for:

  • Tourism and Hospitality: Hotels, restaurants, bars and transport services will see higher patronage.
  • Small Businesses: Vendors can sell food, drinks, fashion items, accessories and art.
  • Creative Industry Jobs: DJs, dancers, photographers, influencers, MCs and event staff can earn and gain exposure.
  • Fitness and Lifestyle Communities: Wellness segments offer platforms for trainers, brands and instructors.
  • Youth Empowerment: Emerging DJs and performers get visibility and career growth.

The 96-hour DJ marathon is more than a party—it is an economic, cultural and tourism opportunity for Nigerians. With global streaming, diverse events and massive participation, Lagos aims to showcase the best of Africa’s entertainment industry while boosting local businesses and talent.
