Lagos Empowers Women Entrepreneurs with Digital and Financial Growth Strategies

In a bid to strengthen female-led businesses, the Lagos State Government has announced plans to train women entrepreneurs in digital and financial growth strategies. This initiative is part of the activities lined up to celebrate International Women’s Day 2025.
Event Details and Focus Areas
The training, themed “Empowering Women, Elevating Businesses: Digital & Financial Strategies for Growth,” is set to take place on March 12, 2025, at the Women Development Centre, Agege, Lagos. It will bring together industry experts, business strategists, financial specialists, and cooperative development leaders to equip participants with practical tools for business expansion.
Women entrepreneurs will gain insights into:
E-commerce and digital sales – Learning how to leverage online platforms to boost business visibility and revenue.
Financial literacy and smart money management – Understanding how to manage finances, secure funding, and build creditworthiness.
Scaling micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) – Strategies for business sustainability and expansion.
Government’s Commitment to Women’s Economic Growth
Speaking on the initiative, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade, and Investment, Hauwa Adeeyo, reaffirmed the government’s dedication to financial inclusion and business sustainability for women.
“This initiative aligns with the IWD 2025 global theme, ‘Inspire Inclusion.’ We are not only celebrating women in business but ensuring they have access to the digital tools, financial knowledge, and cooperative support needed to scale their ventures. Support for Women-led Businesses
Participants will receive hands-on training, mentorship, and access to funding opportunities. Lagos State also offers various support programmes for women entrepreneurs, including:
Lagos State Women Entrepreneurship Fund – Provides direct funding and low-interest loans to women-led businesses.
Eko MSME Fashion Hub – Grants access to advanced fashion technology and production tools for women in the creative sector.
Market Modernisation Programme – Supports market women with improved infrastructure and digital business solutions.
Additionally, successful female entrepreneurs and e-commerce experts will share their experiences and guide participants on optimising digital platforms and securing investment.
With over 200 women entrepreneurs expected to attend, this initiative highlights Lagos State’s ongoing efforts to create an enabling environment for female business owners. Representatives from the Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Women Affairs, financial institutions, fintech companies, and private sector investors will also be present to offer mentorship and funding opportunities.
