Nigeria’s flag is flying high in Bangkok as Godwin Awaji-Iroso Abiodun, the current Misters of Nigeria 2025 winner, clinched the Best Physique award at the preliminary stage of the Mister Cosmopolitan 2025 competition. The event took place at the MBK Centre in Bangkok, Thailand, bringing together 18 contestants from different parts of the world.

Abiodun, who is also Mr Rivers State University 2023/2024, expressed his excitement on Facebook, writing:

“Best physique Cosmopolitan 2025 all the way from PH to Thailand.”

This victory marks an important step in his journey as he proudly represents Nigeria on an international platform.

A Showcase of Culture and Strength

Beyond his physique award, Abiodun also showcased Nigeria’s cultural richness through the national costume titled “Omu Alabo – The Warlord.” The design was inspired by King Agbanijike of the Bille Kingdom in Rivers State. The outfit symbolised the heritage, warrior spirit, and strength of the Niger Delta people, reminding the world of Nigeria’s deep cultural roots.

The preliminaries also featured other categories where a Filipino contestant won Best National Costume, and a Thai participant claimed Best Talent.

“This victory is not just about physique; it’s about showcasing Nigeria’s strength, culture, and the potential of our youth on the global stage.”

Building Global Recognition

Competitions like Mister Cosmopolitan go beyond pageantry. They serve as a platform for cultural exchange, confidence building, and international networking. Abiodun’s achievement shows how Nigerian youths can excel globally when given the opportunity to showcase their talents and identity.

Fan votes are also playing a huge role in the contest, with contestants from Taiwan, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Korea, and South Africa currently topping the list. These votes will influence who makes it into the semifinals ahead of the grand finale.

Godwin Abiodun’s success at the preliminaries is more than a personal victory — it is a reminder that Nigerian youth can compete and shine globally. His journey teaches us the importance of confidence, cultural pride, and hard work in achieving international recognition.
