NYSC Corps Members Set to Receive Increased Monthly Allowance

The Director General (DG) of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed, has announced that corps members will soon begin receiving an increased monthly allowance of N77,000. This increase is part of the government’s plan to better support the welfare of NYSC members. Ahmed made this statement in Abuja during the commissioning of a staff bus donated by Capital Express Insurance Company. He confirmed that all arrangements for the new allowance have been finalized, and the payment will start in 2025.

Understanding the Increase and Its Impact

Currently, NYSC members receive N33,000 monthly despite the signing of the national minimum wage bill by President Bola Tinubu in July 2024. The increase to N77,000 is a welcome change for many, as it promises to better support corps members in their daily lives. This adjustment will go a long way in addressing the financial challenges that many corps’ members face, especially those who serve in locations with high living costs. The payment is expected to ensure that corps members are more financially stable during their service year.

“By 2025, corps members will receive all the benefits they deserve, ensuring their well-being and supporting their development.”

The Role of Capital Express Insurance

Capital Express Insurance Company’s donation of a staff bus aims to improve transportation for NYSC staff, making commuting easier. With rising fuel and transportation costs, commuting to and from offices can be challenging for staff and corps members alike. The donation is part of a long-standing partnership between Capital Express and the NYSC. This gesture highlights the company’s commitment to the welfare of corps members and staff, ensuring that their transportation needs are met, which is critical for efficient daily operations.

Ahmed’s Commitment to Corps Members’ Welfare

Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed reiterated his commitment to the welfare and security of all corps members. He assured them that by 2025, they will receive all the benefits they deserve. This includes better allowances and improved working conditions. For those who are currently serving, this is a reminder that the government is committed to enhancing their well-being. Corps members should take advantage of this period to focus on skill-building, personal development, and creating lasting impacts within their communities

Additionally, for businesses, this serves as a reminder to invest in employee welfare.
