The Best of Nollywood (BON) Awards has unveiled its 2025 nominee list, spotlighting excellence and creativity in the Nigerian film industry. This year’s edition introduces a new “Best Series” category, a nod to Nollywood’s increasing embrace of serialised storytelling and digital content.
The grand unveiling ceremony took place in Victoria Island, Lagos, gathering top filmmakers, actors, and industry leaders in celebration of the achievements that shaped Nigerian cinema over the past year.
Top Contenders Take Center Stage
Leading the pack is Seven Doors with nine nominations, followed closely by Abanisete with eight. Both films dominate key categories including Best Director, Best Actor, and Movie of the Year, solidifying their positions as this year’s standout productions.
Other audience favourites such as Farmer’s Bride and My Mother Is a Witch also earned multiple nods for their exceptional storytelling, production design, and performances.
Nominees for Best Actor include Femi Adebayo (Seven Doors), Ibrahim Yekini (Abanisete), and Tobi Bakre (Farmer’s Bride), while Best Actress contenders feature Chioma Chukwuka (Seven Doors), Gbubemi Ejeye (Farmer’s Bride), and Efe Irele (My Mother Is a Witch).
The Best Series category, making its debut this year, features The Party and Seven Doors — reflecting Nollywood’s growing interest in long-form storytelling that keeps global audiences hooked.
Recognizing Creative Brilliance Across Categories
From Best Costume Design to Best Screenplay, Cinematography, and Editing, this year’s awards highlight technical and artistic excellence. Notably, Seven Doors, Abanisete, and Iyalode appear across several creative and indigenous film categories.
A special moment is expected during the main event as organizers plan a Guinness World Record attempt for the longest red carpet, setting the stage for a historic celebration.
