STL Trustees and COPE Empower Over 300 Women with Free Breast Cancer Screenings

In a powerful show of commitment to women’s health, STL Trustees Limited, in partnership with the Care Organisation Public Enlightenment (COPE), has extended its breast cancer awareness and screening initiative for the third consecutive year. So far, this collaboration has provided free breast cancer screenings to over 300 women and reached thousands more through awareness campaigns and community education.

The initiative aligns with the World Health Organisation’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which focuses on early detection and equitable access to care. The 2025 theme, “Every Story is Unique, Every Journey Matters,” highlights the personal nature of every diagnosis and the need for compassion and awareness.

Empowering Women Through Early Detection

At the latest screening event held in Lagos, Funmi Ekundayo, Managing Director of STL Trustees, described the project as one of the company’s most meaningful Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts.

“Only when you are healthy can you truly support your family and your career,” Ekundayo said. “

Early detection saves lives, and this partnership with COPE has helped women understand the importance of regular checks and open conversations about breast health.”

She emphasized that many women juggle multiple responsibilities and often neglect their health, urging them to prioritise routine screenings and self-examinations.

How You Can Be Part of It

Women who wish to participate in future screenings or awareness programmes can:

Follow COPE Nigeria and STL Trustees on social media platforms for announcements about upcoming free screenings and awareness events.

✅ Visit COPE’s offices or partner hospitals during October and other outreach periods to register for free or subsidised breast checks.

Learn self-examination techniques — COPE provides educational materials and training to help women detect changes early.

Join community sessions to spread awareness and encourage others to prioritize their health.

This partnership between STL Trustees and COPE is saving lives and breaking stigmas. By empowering women with knowledge, screenings, and confidence, it reinforces the truth that early detection is the best protection. When women take charge of their health, families and communities thrive.
