Air Peace Promotes Two Pilots to Captains: A Story of Dedication, Safety, and Leadership

Air Peace has once again demonstrated its commitment to excellence and safety in aviation by promoting two of its seasoned First Officers, Obinna Okeke and Adedamola Adeoye, to the prestigious rank of Captain on its Boeing 737 fleet.

A Milestone Achievement

The announcement was made in a statement signed by Ejike Ndiulo, Head of Corporate Communications at Air Peace. The event was not only symbolic but inspiring, as it highlighted the dedication and resilience of the two aviators who had both clocked over 4,000 flying hours on the Boeing 737 aircraft.

The official decoration was performed by the Chairman of Air Peace, Dr. Allen Onyema, alongside the airline’s Chief Operating Officer, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Olajide. Family members, colleagues, and aviation industry professionals were also present to witness this significant moment.

The Journey of the Captains

Captain Adedamola Adeoye joined Air Peace in 2016, fresh from flight school. Captain Obinna Okeke followed two years later, joining the airline in 2018. Both men expressed deep gratitude for the opportunity and described the moment as a defining point in their careers.

Their elevation is a clear testament to their technical expertise, professionalism, and commitment to safety—qualities that Air Peace continues to uphold as a top-tier airline in Africa.

Leadership Beyond the Cockpit

In his speech, Dr. Onyema emphasized that Air Peace does not celebrate risk-taking but values sound judgement and strict adherence to safety protocols.

“We don’t need overzealous decisions. We don’t need heroes. We need you alive,” he told the new captains.

Dr. Onyema urged them to always stick to operational procedures, prioritize safety, and avoid unnecessary risks. He reminded them that flying responsibly is not only essential for the airline’s success but also crucial for the safety of their passengers and their own families.

He concluded with a powerful message:

“The sky is not your limit—it’s your foundation. You must think ahead and work with a sense of purpose, not just for the airline, but for your families and for the greater good of Nigeria.”

“In the journey of success, discipline and responsibility are the wings that help you rise—not just skill alone.”

Lessons from the Promotion

This career progression story offers valuable lessons for both aspiring aviators and professionals in other fields:

Consistency and discipline matter in any career.

Safety and sound judgement should always be prioritized over showmanship.

True leadership is about integrity, responsibility, and thinking beyond oneself.

Hard work pays off when matched with the right values and mentorship.

Air Peace’s promotion of Captains Adeoye and Okeke is more than just an organizational update—it is a story of growth, responsibility, and leadership. It serves as a motivation to young professionals across Nigeria and beyond to remain diligent, safety-conscious, and value-driven in their pursuits. In aviation and in life, the sky should never be the limit—it should be the beginning.
