Ikeja Council Empowers 400 Entrepreneurs with N55 Million Grant

In a move to support entrepreneurship and economic growth, the Ikeja Local Government Area has disbursed N55 million in grants to 400 business owners. This initiative is part of a broader empowerment programme aimed at boosting local businesses and improving livelihoods.

According to the council, 300 small-scale business owners received N100,000 each, while 100 medium-scale entrepreneurs got N250,000 each to support and expand their businesses.

Part of a Week-Long Development Celebration

The empowerment scheme was unveiled during a week-long event celebrating the achievements of the outgoing chairman, Mojeed Balogun. The event showcased key infrastructure projects such as the construction of a new administrative block, renovation of existing buildings, and the donation of 500 minibuses to residents.

Balogun noted that these achievements were made without any external loans, stressing the council’s commitment to responsible financial management.

“We worked with the little allocation from the federal government. We never borrowed a dime. Up to this very moment, we have incurred zero loans,” Balogun stated.

“Empowering our people is the most sustainable way to build a stronger community. When we invest in small businesses, we invest in the future of Ikeja.” — Mojeed Balogun, Chairman, Ikeja Local Government
