Yinka Quadri Urges Aspiring Actors to Stay Humble and Promote Culture

Veteran Nollywood actor Yinka Quadri has shared valuable advice for aspiring actors hoping to make it big in the Nigerian film industry. Speaking in an interview with Saturday Beats, Quadri emphasized the importance of humility, patience, and a willingness to learn. 

He stated, “Anyone with an ego should leave it at home. To truly succeed in Nollywood, you must be patient, calm, and open to growth.” According to the seasoned actor, these qualities are essential for navigating the challenges of the industry and building a lasting career. 

Celebrating Young Actors 

Quadri expressed his admiration for the younger generation of actors and filmmakers, particularly those in the Yoruba sector of Nollywood. He acknowledged their efforts in promoting Yoruba culture and taking it to new heights. 

Using a Yoruba proverb, he explained, “A tradition that does not include the younger ones is not sustainable.” Quadri added that he is proud to see the younger generation surpassing the achievements of their predecessors, a fulfillment of the prayer that children should be greater than their parents.

The veteran actor also encouraged young talents to remain dedicated to showcasing African culture through their films. He praised their commitment to cultural representation and urged them to continue seeking knowledge to elevate Nollywood’s global reputation. 

“The world is watching Nollywood, especially the Yoruba sector, as it elevates our culture. I trust that the younger generation won’t relent,” he said.
