Aiyedatiwa Boosts Security in Ondo with 50 New Patrol Vehicles

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has distributed 50 Toyota Hilux patrol vehicles to various security agencies as part of his administration’s continued efforts to improve the safety and protection of lives and property across the state.

The presentation ceremony, which took place at the Government House in Akure, marked a major highlight of the governor’s first 100 days in office. This latest move is a follow-up to the distribution of 25 operational vehicles earlier in July 2024.

Improving Security Response Across the State

Governor Aiyedatiwa stated that the vehicles will enhance the effectiveness and mobility of security agencies, enabling quicker responses to crime and emergencies across Ondo. He noted that addressing security challenges requires joint efforts from all stakeholders, including government, law enforcement, and the people.

“This event underscores our administration’s unwavering commitment to improving the effectiveness, efficiency, and capacity of our security agencies to respond promptly to any security alert or criminal activity within the state,” he said.

The vehicles, he added, are a token of appreciation for the hard work and sacrifices made by security officers and are part of the government’s long-term strategy to ensure peace and orderliness.

“These vehicles are not just assets; they are instruments of peace and protection. With them, our security agencies will respond faster and more effectively to threats across Ondo State.”

Calls for Community Support

The Secretary to the State Government, Dr Taiwo Fasoranti, reaffirmed that the current administration is security-focused and determined to keep residents safe. He urged citizens to support the government’s efforts by remaining law-abiding and cooperative with security agencies.

In response, Brigadier General Justin Ifeanyi, Commander of the 32 Artillery Brigade, assured that the vehicles will be properly maintained and used exclusively for enhancing security operations across the state.

Similarly, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, Commander of the Amotekun Corps, thanked the state government, saying the vehicles would ease transportation difficulties and strengthen operational efficiency in fighting crime.

Governor Aiyedatiwa’s commitment to a safer Ondo State is clearly seen through the strategic provision of logistics and support to security agencies. This gesture not only improves operational capacity but also encourages public trust and collaboration in securing communities. Residents are encouraged to stay vigilant and support these efforts for a more peaceful state.
