STEM Africa Fest: How Nigerian Children Can Learn AI, Robotics and Coding for Future Careers
More than 3,800 children, parents, teachers, and technology enthusiasts recently gathered in Lagos for the sixth edition of STEM Africa Fest, one of Africa’s largest STEM events. The festival gave young Nigerians practical experience in Artificial Intelligence (AI), robotics, coding, drone technology, engineering, and entrepreneurship—skills that are increasingly in demand across the world.
Held under the theme “Building Future Innovators,” the event welcomed participants from over 119 schools and 46 exhibitors, allowing children to move beyond classroom theory by building robots, writing code, conducting science experiments, and solving real-life engineering challenges.
How Your Child Can Benefit from STEM Africa Fest
Step 1: Follow Official Announcements
Keep an eye on STEM Africa Fest’s official website and social media pages for registration dates, venue information, and participation guidelines.
Step 2: Register Early
Once registration opens, complete the application promptly. Schools, parents, and individual learners are encouraged to register before available spaces are filled.
Step 3: Encourage Hands-on Participation
Children should actively participate in coding workshops, robotics challenges, AI demonstrations, drone exhibitions, science laboratories, and innovation competitions to build practical skills.
Step 4: Explore Networking Opportunities
Parents and teachers can interact with STEM educators, technology companies, and training organisations to discover scholarships, STEM clubs, and future learning programmes.
Step 5: Continue Learning After the Festival
Practice coding and robotics using free online learning platforms and school STEM clubs to strengthen the knowledge gained during the event.
“Children are naturally curious… We wanted to bring STEM to life beyond the classroom.” — Jadesola Adedeji, Co-founder, STEM Africa Fest
